I wanna speak up on this part here, if you don't mind GambiT.

Back in testing, schtop was more or less done. GambiT did an great job as always (as we can tell from redgiant).

The issue was, someone posted a screenshot of a map from another game, and the design of the textures looked really good. GambiT's design was really good, of course, but the screenshot of the other map looked great, looked like it would fit schtop's them, and, most importantly (in my opinion), it looked completely different from any map in FF ever.

As a bonus, if the textures made it into the game, it would expand the amount of textures available to mappers. Any mapper can tell you that the FF exclusive textures are painfully small in number.

GambiT was a bit insulted (and I could understand his position, of course), taking the suggestion of making and using different textures as an insult to his design. I explained that personally I did not mean that (nor did any of the other testers, I'm sure) and that it would make the map so much better for the reasons described above.

That said, that is what's going on with schtop, and I can tell you from what I've seen of it that schtop is in excellent hands and GambiT would be an excellent candidate to remake rock2. I hope he does, I'm sure the community will love it.

And if they don't, well... fuck 'em.

metal grunge textures, sci-fi, quake/doom like but not so much they dont fit into FF, some with and without caution stripes in them, just make a few base metal textures and send them to me and i'll tell ya which one to flow with. if you'd like

also, the reason i havent worked on hollow is because of the lack of sci-fi textures, if you make some i'll work on hollow after rock2.

1) I shit myself over those textures just now. The mappers would love more textures like that made available via FF.

2) If rock gets remade I got to complain about balance. I always felt it was too defensive. I for one would love to see something resembling an actual Alcatraz prison... showers and prison cell halls, etc.

3) I love openfire but if I had to post one complaint its the textures. They're clean but too clean. The bases look like they're made out of lime stone like the TajMahal instead of cement and steel like a factory or bunker.

4) Did I mention I'd love to see some texture artists put to work?

Rock2 is underway...so far i have a little more than what you see in the media for rock2. i kept the same look in the yard as in those SS's.

wonder if i could leak a SS.....

You could take some ideas from twilight (tfc map) I think it was to make it more offence friendly.

GambiT are you remaking it like it was in tfc?
Or are u making one like it but different as in tfc, Meaby its nice to do something news in it what you do is really nice Cant wait to play in it

its not going to be a "port" thats for sure. i'm thinking of adding an additional detpack area and an additional route( i think we've found a place to add it). it will be very very nice.

i will leak a SS seeing as how im not a dev and just a community mapper, no need not to show the progress of it so long as y'all remember its a work in progress.
